This past weekend I preached from Acts 4:32-5:11. Both a sobering and inspiring text. I liked what John Stott said of the first part of this passage:
"Their economic sharing was but one expression of the union of their hearts and minds". . . "no one claimed" his possessions, 'in fact and in law they continued to own their goods, yet in heart and mind they cultivated an attitude so radical they thought of their possessions as being available to help (others)"I also liked what Tozer said about this text:
“Has it ever occurred to you that one hundred pianos all tuned to the same fork are automatically tuned to each other? They are of one accord by being tuned, not to each other, but to another standard to which each one must individually bow. So one hundred worshippers met together, each one looking away to Christ, are in heart nearer to each other than they could possibly be were they to become ‘unity’ conscious and turn their eyes away from God to strive for closer fellowship."
May the Lord help us turn our eyes to Him, be tuned & transformed by Christ becoming one in heart and soul, a oneness that will reflect in the way we view even our earthly possessions.
